Olympus epl5 and sea and sea ys-d1, help?

I'm going on holiday so decided to treat myself to a strobe for my olympus ELp5 which I use with the Olympus underwater housing.

So I was wondering? I assume that I won't use the underwater setting / white balance that makes everything top side red?

if I'm correct then which is the best auto setting / setting?

also what is the black mask thing for? And the flash defused?

i need help, I've gotten myself so muddled up

Auto white balance and shoot raw. The mark is to prevent the internal flash to leak out and create backscatter. Set the camera and strobe to ttl as a starter

Thanks that's what I was thinking, so released to have it confirmed.

am I right in thinking that I just can't take the internal flash off as that's what triggers the strobe from the cable?

No you have to keep the flash on to tell the external strobe what to do

You can (should!) Practise ahead of time before you go. Pick a poorly lit room and try a bunch of shots of various types. You can also try out different flash settings on your camera under controlled low stress conditions.
