Hi, I've made a thread in the Olympus category on my lens hack. http://www.scubaboard.com/forums/ol...uiko-12-50-get-accesible-macro-any-house.html

My Olympus m.zuiko 12-50mm lens has a macro setting, but you need to push a button while sliding the zoom ring forward to go into macro, and that's quite hard to do inside an underwater camera house.

I disassembled the lens to get to the electronics, found that there was no mechanic lens action by sliding the zoom ring, mounted a reed relay inside the lens that can activate macro by an external magnet, and made a nice external magnet hinge, to switch macro..

Just as a little appetizer/inspiration over here - please post replies to the original post here: http://www.scubaboard.com/forums/ol...uiko-12-50-get-accesible-macro-any-house.html

Thanks! Concerns were whether the motors/actuators in the camera could error-trig the reed relay, but I couldn't trig it anywhere - and if the powerfull magnet would move something in the lens system, but it doesn't, even directly on the lens. I'm sorry I didn't have a lego diver at hand. A mermaid could be cool, but it has no bendable legs.. ;-)
Thanks again for your comment!
