I just got off the phone with Backscatter and I was discussing the advantage of purchasing a magic filter for the EPL-2. Fred Dion suggested that for ambient light photography the two underwater modes available on the Olympus EPL-2 would provide comparable results to a magic filter. He did suggest following the instructions for using magic filters when shooting with the Olympus underwater modes (including using custom white balance). Can anyone comment on these modes compared to a magic filter?

I was thinking of buying the 37 mm filter to use with the Kit lense. However, if the Olympus filter provides comparable results, then I can change between strobe shooting and ambient light photography with the Olympus underwater modes on the same dive.
