If you want to pick nits, I don't know of a single operator in WEST Palm Beach. Can you name any???

Lots of them in Riviera Beach, Singer Island, and Lake Park, etc. But none I'm aware of in WEST Palm Beach...

I was replying to Splitlip's post stating:

My point is that there are operators in Boynton that put a DM in the water.

Does the DM thumb the dive for everybody when the first diver hits the turn PSI? I don't know on a six pack etc...

That was my point for the OP.

FTR. I love Kev. (But in a masculine kind of way.) I have not been on Kevin's op, but was with him on Lynn's boat.) I stumped for him last year.:D

He sends you up the line while the others continue their dive.

That is the big dif between the Scuba Club and most other ops up this way. They try to escort the bailing divers up.

But fact is, the currents up this way will be more extreme and the dives deeper than Boynton and South. That is why Boynton and South, they are able to put multiple flags in the water (wrecks aside).

Thanks everyone. Looks like 3 pretty solid recommendations. I might check Underwater Explorers first since it looks like they offer a 3-tank dive (I only have one day and then back to the midwest). I'll just have to make sure it meshes with my flight time the next day.

Scott L - I'll let you know if I end up going with Pura Vida and I'd be glad to have you with me.

Thanks,
Nate

Scuba Club is good as mentioned: I agree that the op is very very safety minded. I used to do a lot of diving with this op but now prefer double tank dives. Scuba Club does single tank runs on most days. If I can dive Friday afternoon, or on Sunday, their two tank dive trip is generally my first choice. These are good people (the op is, by the way, actually located in WPB)

Underwater Explorers is good as mentioned: a bit more personal service and a large six pack boat which is nice since all of the other boats can be cattle boats with 18 or 20 divers (though at this time of year, that is not likely). The op is about 20-25 minute drive south of WPB

I've also been out with the following:

Walkers: sends a DM too, visits some sites other ops don't normally go to: Scuba Diving in the Palm Beach area - Walkers Dive Charters

Jim Abernethy: I think they send a DM but its been a while since I have been out with them and I might be wrong. Good service on the boat and loading/unloading gear Scuba Diving Palm Beach, Florida :: Jim Abernethy's Scuba Adventures

Narcosis: maybe not best choice for inexperienced divers given the operator has a reputation of being a little 'happy go lucky'. I've not personally observed this and, in fact, I've seen one of the DMs patienly help a new diver who had set his gear up incorrectly, so at the least that DM was safety minded. Takes trips to Juno ledge from Riviera Beach, tend to be deeper dives. Scuba Diving West Palm Beach Florida with Narcosis Dive Charters

Jupiter Dive Center: great op a bit north of WPB (15 minutes north). Dives tend to be deeper but a DM always goes down. I have done more diving with this op than any other and I like them.

Thanks everyone for all the help. I booked a 3-tank dive with Underwater Explorers for Thursday November 4 at 10 am if anyone wants to get on the boat. Their site says they have 4 spots but I think they may have double counted me so they might have 5 openings.

I'd probably be in for that trip.
