This destination is only accessible to divers 3 months a year and only
from a live aboard dive vessel! This site is internationally acclaimed
for its success in reef recovery! Very very few other divers! Pristine.
THE DIVE DESTINATION: This UNESCO World Heritage property is virtually in the center of the Sulu Sea. It is a
totally protected area of almost 100,000 hectares of high quality marine habitats containing three atolls and a large area
of deep sea. It includes extensive reef flats and perpendicular walls reaching over 100m in depth. Whales, dolphins,
sharks, turtles and Napoleon wrass are amongst the key species. The reef ecosystem supports over 350 species of coral
and almost 500 species of fish. This protected, remote, and undisturbed property presents large marine species
including tiger sharks and large schools of pelagic fishes such as barracuda and trevallies. The presence of these top
predator species such as tiger and hammerhead sharks are indicators of the ecological balance of the property. This is
another 4+ to 5 on the “Boltonian” scale with 5 being the best in the world. (
I don’t yet know if a 5 even exists!)
