Here's some information on the Lauderdale by the Sea location, these two sites detail an entry point that is a block or two south of the pier on Commercial: there's a little somewhat sparce reef about 2/3 of the way down the pier and a really nice reef just beyond the end of the pier. You can swim north (or south) on the outer reef, then swim back on the inner reef. Someone suggested hooking up with Gold Coast Scuba and I'd second the idea. Their shop is on Commercial and their Meetup group is very very active: almost a daily beach dive.

Dive off Atlantic Blvd. Go about a block north and there will be parking. Lifeguard tower 6 has some good stuff to see..
