As a divemaster in training I was wondering since divemasters and instructors spend a lot of time in the pool, are there any extra concerns with equipment due to pool chlorine?

What do other do? Do you use your own gear in the pool when teaching classes? Do you usually use the schools gear? Do you wash your gear differently? Do you have certain equipment you use for the pool? Do you prefer using your old gear in the pool?

Any of your thoughts/suggestions/insight is appreciated :)

P.S. Sorry for the bombardment of questions, just some things I was thinking about. General discussions welcomed too of course.

I use a light-weight BCD for travel and another for pool and local diving. My 15-year-old pool/local BCD is grey/tan rather than black, but still works fine. I’ve had no problem with other equipment. However, as you can see from the threads below, some folks say they have had degradation of other soft gear and parts.

If you do normal rinsing, it should not be a big concern.

I use the shops stuff in the pool....I use my stuff in open water. Chlorine is rough on it. I did use my stuff during the 10 days at IDC and IE but it went straight into the wash tubs for a couple of days when I got home.
