Hi;

I'm new to ScubaBoard, and have been following this thread with interest. I have a few days off, and would love to get some diving in. I am heading out to the outer islands on the Truth on New Years day, but am looking for some diving on the 29th or 30th. I live in Carpinteria. Keep me posted on your plans,

Rob

Hi Rob,

Welcome to the SoCal portion of the Board!

I have to work....(there is that "w" word again!) the 29th and 30th. I have Sat., Sun, and Mon. off. You live just up the 101 from me. Anytime you want to get some local diving in, PM me. I try to go every weekend.

DiverBuoy:
I may be able to hookup, it's tentative only because my family plans aren't sealed yet, so if anything, when I know more I'll jump in at the last minute.

Hi DiverBuoy,

You are welcome to join in if we can get the swells to cooperate with us. It looks like Sunday-Catalina might be in. I am thinking about Sat at Marineland with MaxBottomtime. As the week progresses, we will see what is going to happen.

MaxBottomtime:
I'm rarely able to plan a dive more than a couple days in advance. If I'm not on Ross or Marc's boats next weekend I will most likely be at Marineland Friday through Monday, weather permitting. I saw that the squid are beginning to come in at La Jolla Shores, so if there's a run at Vet's. I'll be there for night dives.

Hi Phil,

If all goes well, weather mainly, I will more than likely be down there at Marineland Sat. If you go there Friday let me know the conditions, please. Hopefully I will see you there.

Well Rick Inman, Wetrat, and I are headed to Dana Point to go over to casino point dive park near avalon tomorrow 9:45 am. So we'll be able to report back about leeward side conditions ... I heard everything is going to get worse and worse as the weekend comes on.

I would like to join you guys, but I have daughter duties on Sat. Won't be able to dive till Sun or Mon.

So count me in for Sun/Mon

Thanks, I am heading out there Sun. A report would be cool! From the reports yesterday, it looked good. Have a great dive.

Hi Johnny,
How does Sunday at Casino Park sound? I am catching the early boat over Sun. morning out of L.B.

Anyone else wanting to join in are welcome.

Hey Guys - I'll be in Catalina from Friday til Monday. I'm debating weither or not to dive, depending on conditions. Has anyone chatted with Dr. Bill to see how things look?

But if I see you guys, I'll say howdy. Be safe and Happy New Year!

Hi Lexy, You gotta take your gear!! The water at the Dive Park was smooth today, the sun was warm all day, and the viz was 40-50 feet at the SuJac around 12:30PM, and 50+ at the Swim Platform around 2PM. Current was slight, crowds were intermittant, Day was beautiful, dive buddies were over-the-top Wonderful!!!!
Maybe the predicted storms won't touch Catalina... be ready for great diving if nothing happen to goober up dramatically.

Happy New Year! I'm off to SLO for a land-lubbers holiday... but I'll probably at least rent a kayak at Pismo beach if the waves aren't monstrous. Morro bay's the back up if there are waves. Going to the movies if a storm hits. Any ocean-themed movies??? I'm hopeless.....

Hi Lexy,

So far the recent dive reports look good. I PMed Dr Bill and he hasn't did any diving in a few days. I am still going, so take your dive gear. You might miss some good conditions.
