Our most famous local big animal ... the giant Pacific octopus. For size reference, the sea star clinging to the rock above this one's about three feet in diameter ... I estimated the octo, tip-to-tip, at about 20 feet ...

What? A twenty foot octo?? Get out of here!

That's what I thought at first ... but it showed no notice of me at all, so I ended up staying until my strobes wouldn't fire anymore.

It's much more common to find them in the 10-12 foot range ...
