I have an old Pro Sling like the one in the ad attached.

I've never used it, it was my Dad's but I've had it for a long time. I think it may be fun to take it out and give it a try.

The bands are surprisingly quite stretchable but I don't think I would trust them to much.

It has been years since I knew where I put the spear for this.

Does anyone know where I could get new bands and a spear for this? I'm sure I could rig something up but I'd like to be close to authentic if possible.

The Pro Sling was introduced by Aqua Craft in the 1976 catalog on page 27.

It came in two models;

E-81Orange attached 5/16 4 foot shaft with a single flopper point==$24.00
E-82 Yellow unattached (Free Shaft) 1/4 4 foot shaft with a single flopper point = $23.50

Suggest that you make your own replacement parts
** Sling == Surgical supply or Dive shop
** Arrow == a hunk of 1/4 or 5/16s CRS and a flopper from a spear gun.

Not worth much and certainly not a shooter or a collecto'rs item-- but a great wall hanger and conversation piece. --- And a great hand me down.

MY Question;
Where are you located in Utah ( Aka ; Zion) ???

SDM

I'm in Sandy.

I plan on letting my son use this, since it will only be as dangerous as he is strong and we are just after lake fish.

I've attached a better picture.

Thanks for the info.

Know Sandy well....Have relatives all over Utah..

You have the delux model--$24.95

Need some black surgical tubing & a hunk of CRS which is generally avaliable at a scrap yard at a very resonable price.

Frankly, it is almost 35 years old and some what rare, but currently not collectable...SO ...do your self and your son a favor and hang it on the wall for the great great grand children to marvel at..

I just use black surgical tubing of the desired diameter.

Just e-mail him your requirements for a quote.

Once I fixed it up, I would go get dinner just to see how well it worked.

I would customize the shaft length so that it fit my draw with the flopper sticking out at least a few inches.

Are you going to tie a line to the shaft?

Does the shaft go through the center portion?

May want to think about it before ordering.

I think a polespear may be safer. If the plastic cracked when drawn.

Yea, maybe you guys are right. Start him off with a pole spear and hang this up for looks.

The spear does go through the center part of the unit with the string tied off through the small hole in the front. If I remember right it had some kind of sliding piece that the string tied to on the shaft.

Still I think I may have to shoot something with it just once :devil:

I've got a bunch of stuff of Dad's including one of those horse collar bc's with the CO2 cartriges for "safety" and one of the early Jacket style bc's also with CO2 cartriges. I keep thinking I'll show up to DM a class with the horse collar bc and a camera lol.

FYI

The arrow had a hole in the back that the line was tied.

No need to get fancy -- it is a 35 year old gun with 35 year old technology

"I would customize the shaft length so that it fit my draw with the flopper sticking out at least a few inches."

And you woukd be incorrect -- the arrow was 4 (four) foot long.

It would make sense that it would use a slide ring to tie off. Both sites I listed have spring or ring for 5/16" shaft.

I use Neptonics. I use the line springs on pneumatic shafts.

Interesting piece. Thanks for posting!
