They're non-focusable, they've got short burn time, the batteries are heavy and the cannister is f-ugly.

That being said, I've heard the owner is pretty stand-up to deal with...

They're focusable.

Agree with you on the rest though. You'd do better paying the few extra bucks for, say, a new Dive Rite or a used light.
 
Those are the ones that the guy at Blue Grotto makes right?

I had one years ago. It was ok but the canister is square. Mine was a halogen so when I got a chance I switched to HID...with a cylindrical can.
