So almost every time I back roll or giant stride my smb and lift bag deploy and have to be re-rolled. They are new and the bungees are not stretched out. What am I doing wrong?

wrap it really really tight..........or hold it on entry..

Some more details might help - make and model? How is it secured to you?

You could try Velcro straps instead of bungees, that will hold it closed and is easy to deploy.

Put em in a pocket....if your suit doesn't have pockets, buy some pocket shorts. I stow my bags in my drysuit pockets, and have a spool already attached to it for easy deployment.

I sewed a pocket for my safety sausage with two bungeed loops to clip it off on my BCD. I'll post a pic in a bit.

Try surgical tubing instead. This also works very well as a replacement for your leg knife if you wear one.
