www.rockywoods.com, this is a good source for neoprene, heavy duty netting/mesh, coated cordura, wicking and insulating fabrics and pretty much anything we need for a DIY project dealing with fabric. I also do not work for this company or have anything to do with their promotion, just a cool resource I found

Many years ago, I worked in a motorcycle shop. Every bike we got in a crate would come with a 10"x3" tube of desiccant gel to wick moisture away from it. My boss used to take the stuff to his gun club where they would put it in gun safes, etc.

I haven't checked this source of desiccant for a while but I believe they still pack the new bike crates with it. The guys in the shop will probably give it to you. You can reactivate the gel by warming it, carefully, in a oven to drive off the moisture. Sew up some bags made of fine mesh and you've got some custom made desiccators for a camera housing or whatever.

Does anybody know of any suppliers of small, rotating-shaft seals? I can't find any suppliers via a Google search or anybody local?

What kind of shaft seals are you looking for? McMaster-Carr has all kinds that I have used before. Another good source is Grainger. Not just for shaft seals but for just about anything, similar to McMaster.

Thanks for the input. I'm looking for a supplier for rotary shaft oil seals for a 0.25" diameter shaft. I building a DPV using a trolling motor and needed to rebuild the seals in it. I was able to order them from a trolling motor repair shop, but wanted to find a source for this size of seals for building a bulkhead for use with an auxillary DC motor on the interior of the PVC cannister. I would run the shaft out the back through the seal in the bulkhead. I should have the first prototype together in a week or two and I'll start a thread on its construction.
