Just read that, while scootering, a long hose's "placement reduces the drag and cavitation one would experience from a shorter hose.".
I understand the drag bit but how does hose placement affect caviation?
 
cavitation probably is the wrong word, but the shorter hoses bow out from the body and chatter when you're on a DPV. The long hose is tucked tight the body and doesn't have any space to chatter
Yes, cavitation is not the right word.
The problem is alternating vortex shedding from an object (the hose) and forced movement of the object as a result. If the object has a natural frequency you can get extreme resonances.
