The Quito Airport runway will do preventive maintenance in September and October. The works will be carried out on Saturdays, September 2, 9, 16, 23, and 30, and Saturdays, October 14, 21, and 28. The works will be done from 02:00 to 14:00, according to the Quiport Corporation which runs the airport. During these times, operations at Mariscal Sucre will be suspended. "Preventive maintenance work is necessary to guarantee efficiency and safety in air operations at the Quito airport and avoid unforeseen closures due to emergency corrective work," said a Quiport statement.

The closures of operations were coordinated and authorized by the General Directorate of Civil Aviation. The airlines that operate at the Quito airport have already been informed of this need. Quiport reported that changes to itineraries, rescheduling or cancellations of flights by airlines will be reported in a timely manner. "We invite passengers who have scheduled flights on those dates and times to contact their respective airlines to receive updated information."

Note: All flights from Quito to Galapagos are during the hours the airport will be closed. It seems like this would most directly impact anyone onboard the Tiburon Explorer or anyone going in a day early for Galapagos Sky. Or pre-cruise extensions that have you flying on a Saturday.
