Raja Ampat Diving, Oct 19-Nov 2, 2012: Fish Soup, Walking Sharks, Manta Rays & Blue Ring Octopus

Oct 19 - Nov 2, 2012
Sorong-Sorong. 100% Raja Ampat
14 days & nights

We are just back from our 2011 trips! As usual we dived in the "Fish Soup" and photographed manta rays, walking sharks, unusual nudibranchs, different pygmy seahorses as well as countless other creatures! 2011 had outstanding ghost pipefish and Blue Ring Octopus encounters plus some night dives that were absolutely some of the best I've done in 30 years!

All our Raja Ampat liveaboard dive trips are

  • limited participation with
  • extra experienced dive guides,
  • extra dives,
  • special menus and
  • itinerary planned according to local conditions at the time to fit the desires of divers aboard at the time
  • at a cost equivalent to a standard liveaboard trip or comparable dive resort visit.

14 diving days, 14 nights on board.

The highlight of our cruises in Raja Ampat is variety.

Reef, muck, wall, pinnacle, piers & jetties, narrow shallow channels, walls... You can expect to see everything from gorgeous reefs spilling over with colorful corals and small reef fishes to sandy slopes and their odd denizens such as the Mimic Octopus, ghost pipefishes, Solar Powered nudibranchs and snake eels.

Some dives are "fish soup" with a mind boggling scenes containing many species of schooling and solitary fishes as well as giant clams and Tasselled Wobbegong Sharks (carpet sharks). On night dives you will see the infamous "Walking Shark". Critter lovers will enjoy the many species of "pygs" (pygmy seahorses). And there will be days with manta rays!

City Seahorse trips always include
  • unlimited bottom time,
  • "open deck" days of unlimited diving and
  • flexibility to adapt to the desires of the specific divers aboard.

The trip is dedicated to creating a superior opportunity in Raja for underwater photographers, underwater videographers and those who love a trip with a very diverse set of dive sites and marine life.

This trip is limited to 12 guest divers (instead of the ship's normal 16-17). An experienced cruise director and additional hand-picked, experienced dive guides supplement the ship's normal crew of 13 making a ratio of 1 dive guide per 3 or 4 divers.

The trip is organized and escorted by an tour organizer with 13 years, more than 30 small group tours and over 2000 dives experience in Raja Ampat.

Ship accommodation is in triple cabins, each for 2 guests, with en suite bath, individually controlled AC. Guaranteed single cabins are available.

The ship is a traditionally outfitted Pinisi motor sailor designed and purpose built for diving. Highlights include an indoor dive deck & briefing room with charging stations & gear storage. Indoor wetsuit storage with hot freshwater showers and rinse tank; large camera table with 2 built in rinse tanks and storage for each diver; 3 public areas (sundeck, bow with large tables and hammocks, indoor dining/lounge with AC, HDTV, library).

We can accommodate male or female divers in a cabin with same gender cabinmate or dive buddies in same cabin. About 1/2 of our guests travel alone and meet up enroute to Sorong. We will help you organize your flights to Indonesia and handle all domestic Indonesia (within Indonesia) travel for you.

This trip is all about the diving, photo and video ops!
