Single tank: dive rite ali backplate and hog 32lb singles wing (although i rarely dive single tank these days).
twinset: ist steel plate and a 40lb halcyon explorer (and i am at least the 3rd owner, it's been around awhile as the tag still says "dir dive systems" on it).
If your current BC is still in good nick, why bother getting a new one? Unless you want one, then by all means go for it.
At the end of the day, what matters most is how the BC fits you
