I was looking at the HOG 32lbs wing, anyone knows if this is DIR compliant and how's the quality/performance?...

It is compliant. I sell them for use in DIR classes and even wear one when I mentor for those classes. :)

it is - last time i saw one the inflator might be a bit long but no biggie...

and these looks cool for all wings (by Tobin at DSS) - i wanna try one. Deals with the dongle deals on all wings OPV's.

I did my Halcyon wings with thicker cord and its the ticket but honestly a bit hacked b/c of the design of the normal OPV valve. (no issues in 100's of dives though...)

Not sure where you read about Oxycheq's questionable quality, but I remember doing some research back then before buying one and coming out with generally positive feedback. I use the 18lbs for rec dives in warm water, and it's quite nice. Streamlined (the width of the BP, really), proper valve placement, uses the same inflator as Halcyon's, rock solid without and STA, and good overall construction. I really can't fault it. The only problem I had was the inflator hose they shipped it with came leaking, so had to discard it right away.

I don't know, maybe I was just lucky and got a non-defective unit. Or maybe the QC has dwindled recently, I haven't really kept up with the brand. Either way, mine's serving me well and I'd recommend it on that basis.

I also like my Oxy Mach 5 extreme, very nice wing. I recommend buying from someone like Scubatoys so if something does need repair they will deal with it for you and you won't have to deal with Oxycheq directly. That's my way around their notoriously lacking customer service as the guys at Scubatoys are great!
