I'll add my vote to booking through the UK and flying to Egypt from the UK. Usually you can fly directly to Sharm or at least bypass the night in Cairo on the UK tours. It will be a quite bit less expensive too.

Here are the websites of a few of the more popular UK dive tour operators who are Red Sea liveaboard specialists:
http://www.scuba.co.uk/ - check their Specials
http://www.crusadertravel.com/ - check their Late Bait/Liveaboard Exchange
http://www.redseadivers.com/
http://www.scubasnacks.com/bestdeals.htm - check their Red Sea liveaboard specials
http://www.regal-diving.co.uk/home/ - check their Special Offers
http://www.oonasdivers.com/ - check their Late Availability
http://www.divernet.com click on Holiday Offers, but the website might be down

For good value, reliability and excellent service, I recommend Tony Backhurst as I have used them for half a dozen liveaboard trips to the Red Sea. However, it is worthwhile shopping around for the best package deals.

You may also consider flying into Italy rather than the UK. It is my experience that those lucky Italians have even better deals than us Brits for the Red Sea, of course you will need some help with the language but its worth considering.

I have dived with a number of folk who have flown into the UK then onto the Redsea when I have been diving with Tony Backhursts company http://www.scuba.co.uk/

I thouroughly recommend them and have used them about 5 or 6 times.

Note you will get what you pay for - the cheaper itineries are to the North and boats are based from Sharm El Shiek. If you want to party a bit then you can do shore based diving from here.

The more challenging expensive and remote routes are to the South - boats based in Marsa Alam - going to the famous Bothers Islands/lighthouses.

Have a great hols.
