I have beach dived off of Hollywood, FL on the first reef line but wonder how far this North it goes. Is it still accessible via the beach by swimming say in West Palm Beach? I think that is where the Gulf Stream is the closest to shore and brings in warm clear water then veers off to the northeast, away from the shore.

Look at post #10 by Dan Volker in which he talks about Breakers Shallow in this thread http://www.scubaboard.com/forums/florida-conch-divers/406037-shore-dives.html

I'm not sure it is the same reef line, but Dan indicates you can shore dive it. I've never done so, but would like to some day. By the way, later in the thread, Dan answers a question I asked, indicating that normally the current can be managed despite the proximity of the Gulf Stream.

As you are probably aware, at a minimum the first reef line that you normally dive runs up through Lauderdale by the Sea

and then keeps going up to 14th Street in Pompano, but becomes rather intermittent on its' journey up to the Derrfield area.

It does pop up and disappear all through Palm Beach County.

Chug
Thinks shore dives are really dangerous :rofl3:...and leave my lobsters alone:no:.
