Any reg can be rebuilt if you can find the parts. Many times you can find replacement parts from another brand which will fit. I am a Dacor freak and I have found parts for my old regs which include some of the Olympics and some Pacers. Check out Ebay. Now and then you will find diaphragms, exhaust valves to fit them. Lately there has been a few complete annual service kits for them also. The internal Dacor metal parts you say? Most of these parts are pretty much indestructable and shouldn't need replacing. If they are worn you haven't lost much money if you didn't pay too much for the reg. I like the chrome-plated brass.

quite a few things can be said about diving with older reg or regs that have been discontinued....I for one dive with a SP balanced adjustable as my primary 2nd stage and a S600 as my back-up I have serviced both of these regs myself so there is no difference in the way they have been maintained......I just prefer the metal balanced adjustable to the S600

however in the majority of cases you are better off going and getting a newer reg. servicing and obtaining parts is much easier besides if you do not have the time or the qualification to service your own gear then you are better off having a shop do it for you....and some shops can really ding you if they have to scrounge for parts....that is if they will even service the reg at all
