If you're already snorkeling that's a good start. I think a discover dive is a good thing for someone who thinks they may be interested but undecided about the whole thing, as long as the place does a good job of it. I know someone who told me the tale of her discover dive. It was not quite a horror story, but not good either and pretty much turned her off the idea of diving.
