Safety stop - loosing my buoyancy

Alu80's have positive buoyancy when they are nearly empty, which is the case when you are making a safety stop.

Sound like a tiny bit more lead would help. It does sound if you're weighted for a full tank. just to echo some points here, it's hard until you've got the knack of it to hover feet down, swimming along at 15" way easier than trying to stay still. A shot line that you can use as a reference/hold onto would be great until you've mastered this skill. My top tip would be to go on a dive that's got a 18" bottom (follow a lake contour or a beach line for an hour or so, with a much more experience buddy 200+ dives who has a few Ilbs extra in their pocket that he can transfer to you as necessary. If you can do a whole dive between between 10" - 18" you'll have it sorted!
