Actually I agree with FishKiller, if I flood my mask, my eyes don't generally hurt till after I clear it again. That's kinda a bummer, cause it makes me want to rub them...which of course is difficult with a mask on :wink:

The sting isn't bad...you just get used to it.
 
From time to time, I remove my mask and swim around on dives holding it in my hand. I believe it's a good idea to practice skills and no mask breathing is an easy skill to practice. I'm as comfortable without the mask as with it, although my vision is not as good.
