Not sure about Sarasota, but you can go south a bit to Venice and hunt for Megalon teeth.

I plan on doing that two weeks from now.

Just north in Bradenton (sp?) you can do a shore dive on the "Sugar Barge". I've never done it, but I'm sure if you Google it you'll get a bunch of info.

I've got relatives on Siesta Key, and I don't think there's too much around that area. I'd love to hear if there is, though.

there is a old barge off of Sarasota, that I used to go to with ScubaQuest. Outside of that I am not sure what else there is in that area. Have you tried calling some of the local dive shops and see what they have to say?
