Scubaboarders on Cozumel in January

Jan. 17 - 21, Staying with ?, Diving with ?

I have not figured out where to dive/stay yet. I was in Coz for my first time ever last April and stayed at Caribe Blu/Blue Angel Op. My girlfriend, Sarah, will be joining me this time (she missed out on the first trip)

Looking for something new this time. I think I like the idea of staying downtown but i am worried about the long boat rides to the southern spots.

Can anyone give me an idea of what to expect weather/wind/crowd etc in January vs April??

I can't answer your question about January as I've never been there during that time.

Any concerns or issues with Caribe Blu / Blue Angel. I've already booked to stay with them, but just being curious.

I had a great time staying at Caribe Blu diving with Blue Angel just up for something new although who knows we may end up diving and staying there!!
Sounds like things are only getting better with the new owners (free breakfast now)

Jan temps high 70's-low 80's you can get a north wind which may close the big pool. That's the day you go sightseeing. It's a hit miss thing I always go down the third weekend of Jan and out of 12 years (60) total dive days I've missed 8 days. Water temps 75-78, will be a bit cooler than April 78-80.
I'm staying downtown at Barracuda and diving www.bottomtimedivers.net Raul has a fast 6-pack and will keep your gear so you don't lug it. you have to cab to the caleta to catch the boat $5, if you stay at Barracuda we can share.
If you guys are 20 something and like music you will love Barracuda as the crews from the cruise ships hang there in the afternoon and they are all 20 something.
I'm paying $54 a night plus tax found it at www.calibex.com and search Cozumel hotels. Large new store across the street and rooms have mini-fridge so you can get cheap snacks and stuff.


Just checked and the site is www.gtahotels.com and they have a price of 68 including the tax as of 10pm 12/19
