Good afternoon gang. I purchased a Sealife DC1400 when i began diving a few years back. I mostly travel in the caribbean. Does anyone know of any good photography classes in the caribbean (or maybe hawaii) that they can suggest. I know most dive groups offer a 'PADI underwater specialty' etc. but i would prefer to take a lengthy course with a dedicated photography pro. vs. a 1-2 dive crash course.
My idea is to get more proficient and learn more about the ins/outs of photography before upgrading the unit if I felt a need. (walk before you run). I use an external flash, and the photos aren't bad, but id still like to learn more about the ins and outs of fine tuning. We travel frequently, and are open to ideas about where to go.

(also i travel with a nondriver so liveaboards aren't typically a good fit for us)

thanks in advance!

I do not know where you reside - I must assume some where in the US
you stated
(walk before you run).

I would suggest top side photo courses via your local Community college
Basic Photography
followed by courses in
Lighting
Composition
Editing

Apply the top side principals to UW photography

If in SoCal join one of the three active Underwater Photographic Societies aka UPS
LA UPS ( I was a charter member in 1956)
SD UPS
O CUPS (Orange County = O CUPS ( I was a co-founder in 1967)

good luck

Thanks Sam!
I am in Texas.
I live very remote so the nearest town is several hours away to be honest. Thats why i was wanting to make the most of the experience while traveling.

thanks!

Check out Sunset House on Grand Cayman. Cathy Church’s photo shop is one of the best.

My great great grandfather and great great uncle departed east Tennessee with Davey Crockett for Texas
One died at the Alamo- one became a state senator under Sam Houston

A son married my great grand mother- Their marriage license list him as a Texican she as an American

They had a son, my grandfather whom they named Sam after Sam Houston

My grandfather had a son named Sam Jr. after his father Sam Sam Houston

Sam Jr had a son named Sam III (me !) after his father and Sam Houston

I had a son named Sam IV after my father and Sam Houston.

I am the only true Texican on the board but living in California

While training in USAF in Texas during the Korean conflict
We always said:
" If I had a ranch in Texas and a home in hell
I would sell my ranch in Texas and go home
It would be cooler in the summer and warmer in the winter "

I discovered why we live in California

But still have a Texican heritage and attitude
