If your visibility is that good you do not need a line search pattern, these types of patterns are usually used for low or no visibility searches. I am assuming this out cropping is oval so you could just swim a compass heading along one side, spot a landmark, make a 90 degree turn, swim until the landmark is almost out of site, make another 90 degree turn, then swim a 180 degree opposite heading from your first run and keep repeating until you have covered the whole area. Swim about 10' above the bottom so you can view a larger area and look for the straight line of the poll and the angle of the camera to the poll. Both the poll and the angle should stick out in contrast to the natural bottom.

Camera found earlier this morning. Took a five minute dive for a group of divers to locate it due to the perfect placement of the boat at the same spot. Kudos and many thanks to the special attention of Captain Kyaa Heller and Sundiver express. She was able to replicate the boat position, one week later. For the record, the camera was in the same condition we took it in the water and the battery still had enough charge to shoot a video. Conditions in Catalina were also Epic...

Thank you again for the assistance and recommendations.
