Got 2 of them.

I will say the locking on/off method of their switch is 'interesting', they kind of scare me in regard to making sure they don't accidently get turned on since they warn you about the heat they put out. I don't know if all Solas operate the same, but the play in the locking mechanism doesn't promote a confident feeling.

I have no issue with this, great idea, helps in case they get bumped when your shipping, nothing worse than arriving for your dive and the lights dead cause it got bumped and turned on. However, I bet out of the water if left on, they could get seriously hot.

Another thing I noticed on the sola 4000s, if I fully charge them up and turn them off and leave them, in about 6 days drain themselves are dead.

8000 lumen is not that much for shooting wide. I am using 2 Keldan Luna 4V. Even at full power anything further than 1.5 metre is usually out of their reach. I think they are useful only for deeper water/cloudy day shots.
