I've just returned from a fantastic dive trip to the world-famous Sipadan. The photos below should be self-explanatory.

Where did you stay? I have been to the Sipadan Water Village several times. Incredible place!
Steve
Hi Steve,

Since those "floating resorts" in Mabul and Kapalai tend to overcharge meagre wage-earner like yours truly, we stayed in mainland Semporna with Scuba Junkie Backpackers and a new boutique hotel called Sipadan Inn, also on the mainland.

It's been my dream to $tay at $ipadan Water Village, but not now. LOL

Malaysia-islands,

Nice pics! I hope that things will be the same when I go...will be at SWV 7th till 11th. Is it a problem for people to get those dive permits? I would like to dive at least 3 days there on a 5 day 4 night package with at least 2 dive in Sipadan each time....optimistic?

I would do the muck dive stuff but my buddy isnt too interested as he does not take pics...

Seems like there were no issues on permit during my visit in September. October should be similar. The so-called peak seasons are probably in middle of year ie May/June/July.

Not to mention some divers do dive other islands now, like Mabul and Kapalai. During my time there, there was a full boat load of people diving to this little known island called Sibuan.

Great pics, thanks for sharing.

For this dive trip, we stayed at these two places:

Sipadan Inn
A few months old. Converted from old shophouse building. Surprisingly well appointed with modern amenities. We stayed in a Superior Seaview room for RM168 per night.

Scuba Junkie Bacpackers
Decided to try out their VIP Room. Not too bad. Ensuite bath, TV, wardrobe, etc. Just for RM40 per night inc breakfast if you dive with them as well.

Wow, Sipadan Inn looks really neat! Just got back from there a month ago.. Nice pictures! I missed the schooling bumpheads though, pity.

I will be there next week. Can't wait...:)

Nice Pics.. hopefully, I can get some of equal quality...

Yes, didn't know about Sipadan Inn until we were there. We decided to check-in the very next day after Scuba Junkie. Nice to blow off steam after some dives.

We also missed the bumpheads as I saw them passing by just as we descended under super strong current at Barracuda Point.

I will be there next week. Can't wait...:)

Wolverine, seems like you are better equipped than me. You WILL get much better pictures of those sedentary sharks and turtles :)
