I went on a short trip from my home base in Dumaguete to Siquijor.
The reefs over there are in good shape. There was probably no dynamite fishing on the island at all, or none in a very long time. The diversity of both hard and soft corals is quite nice. I was very positively surprised about the macro subjects hiding between the corals. Slug-wise the dives were all very good, and the marble shrimp, otherwise quite rare, were abundant between the staghorn coral fingers, even during the day. I saw a few large gropers at Palition wall, but very few large or mid-sized fishes in the San Juan area. I saw some turtles, and sea snakes.
A more complete trip description is on my blog, here.
And here are some nice pictures: I was hoping for more wide angle shots, but the sun was not shining during my visit.
