I currently have a 3mm Xspan, which is workng quite well for me. I want to get a thicker suit, likely a 7mm, for days when the water is a bit more chilly.

My question is this - does moving up in thickness typically effect sizing? In other words, should I order the same size in the 7mm that I have in the 3mm? (I may wind up ordering this on-line and would like to avoid having to return for different size if I can help it.)

Thanks.

Hello clpkab,

Thanks for reaching out before you buy a new suit. Generally, if you are a size in one thickness, you will also be the same size in another.. However, sometimes the thickness of a suit comes into play for fitting. I would start by asking how your 3mm fits? Do you think you are squeezing into your current 3mm size? If you are, you MAY consider upping the 7mm... BUT, if you feel that you are true to your size, buying the same size in your 7mm will be perfect.

So, it is a personal choice in the end. At the end of the day, if you fit in the 3mm, you should fit in the 7mm, unless you're not sized right for the 3mm in the first place, and then the 7mm is going to exagerate that effect because of the thickness. You are in luck however because XSPAN is SUPER stretchy and will almost certainly work what ever your choice ends up being.

Hope this helps.
