Tell me about Mermet Springs. I've not been there yet. The dive shop you not been to, is it on Lane Allen? If so he is only open when there is dive flag hanging on the side of the building. He's a one man show at the moment but he is a great guy and really good to dive with.

Blue Springs is in southeastern Indiana not too far from Cinncinatti on I-74 headed toward Indianapolis. Hidden Paradise is near there also. I haven't been to either of them yet but hope to get to both soon.

I learned in '94 did a little diving up to '96 then laid out for 4 years. Was hoping to hit 100th dive this year but it may not happen. Hoping to become an assistant instructor by early October.

you are making my mouth water for some chili.

I grew up in Crestview so I spent a lot of time in Alexandria.

I am planning on coming back 12/21 thru 12/30 so I will email you when we get closer to the time. Maybe you and Chad and me (and anyone else in the neighborhood) that is crazy enough to get wet with us.

Chad, keep getting out as much as you can to build and develop hose skills. We all "only had 10 dives" at one time. Practice safe diving skills and you won'y have any problems.

jbd,

Sorry forgot to address the Ohio river thing. No, I never have dove it, have done a lot of swimming in it many many moons ago. I would suspect the currents would be pretty tough not to mention the "other debris".

jbd,

It looks like i might be able to make it tommorrow if you'll have me. I just have to stop by the shop and see if I can get some tanks.

Let me know if you are still going.

Mermet Springs was a pretty nice trip 6-7 miles from Players Casino so you can entertain yourself on your surface intervals. It has the 727 airplane used in the movie "US Marshals". The depth goes to about 120 feet but most of the stuff to see is at about 50 ft. They are better laid out than Falling rock because they have added swim lines so you can navigate easily between objects. They have a full equipment rental facility. and consessions. Not to mention heated changing rooms and showers. Not just a couple of porta-potties. But I have heard Falling Rock may be adding an air fill station.

Lane Allen is the shop I was talking about. I guess I just keep missing him. I am glad he is trying to get going we need some competition around here.

Chad

if you want. The only draw back for me is that I must be home by 5 p.m. so I need to get down there early. Its nearly a 2 hour drive for me which would put me there between 9:30 & 10:00. Can you make it that early? I also need to come home through Alexandria which is really out of my way so that also figures into starting early so we can end early ie no later than 1:30. Let me know if there is something specific you would like to do there.

BTW I tried to e-mail you through this board: did it come through? If so try e-mailing me through the board and we can switch this to e-mail if you would like.
