How long are you going for? I did a similar trip June 2007. Water temp was 21-22C mainly. I managed to combine Sodwan, Hluhluwe-Umfolozi, then Drakensberg, then Aliwal shoal, in 12 days - doubt I did each place justice but would do the same itinerary again. I didn't find Sodwana very crowded at that time of year - we occasionally ran into another group of divers, and often went out to reefs further out (though there was a visiting dive group from Durban who I dived with, meaning a whole group wanted to go to the other reefs). I hired a car and tended to stay in each place - the mrning dives leave early and would not want ot be staying elsewhere. I recently dived Mozambique (Inhambane); the diving was good though unusual water conditions (low vis/ thermoclines) - I would recommend if you have not seen manta rays; though I only saw 2, plenty around at that time of year.
