Thank you so much for understanding. I can go on the 23rd as well. I am sure there are not going to be any more suprise three day trips anytime soon.

You guys have to let me know how catalina is and i will tell you guys how my trip went.

Looks like Bill and I would have been the only ones to show. Oh well maybe next time. I had something else come up and since the turn out has dwindled so low I'm going with the alternate plan. I can't make it on the 23rd. Maybe some other time.

I was thinking we might want to consider chartering one of the dive boats for a day. The last time I checked it was $1200 a day to take a boat load to Catalina from Redondo Beach, San Pedro, or Long Beach, make three dives and come back including air fills and all the food you can eat.

Any thoughts?

I, for one, would have no interest in chartering a dive boat so I could take the Catalina Express to the mainland, sleep on board that night, then do three dives in my home turf, turn around and return to the mainland, then be too late to catch a boat back to Catalina and have to stay in a hotel.

However, since I'm the only one that would apply to... go for it!

Actually if we chartered the boat we may be able to do something creative like stop by and pick you (Bill) up at a dock on Catalina, do our dives, drop you off, then head back to the mainland.

I'll still be visiting Avalon this coming weekend. Looking at shore diving Casino Point and/or Lovers Cove all day Saturday. Hopefully a night dive on Friday night too. I'm bringing a buddy but we would be happy to meet up with anyone still interested...

Heymonkey- Unless you are snorkeling, Lover's Cove is pretty much off limits. It requires a special permit from the harbor master which is not given often due to the glassbottom boats in that cove. They have priority.

Casino Point should have a number of us hardy souls. Water temp at 80 ft this weekend was 62-64 degrees (toasty) and next weekend is predicted to be nice.

I will be there Saturday (dont know when) and all day Sunday. I have been on the King Neptune a couple of years ago but never dove Casino. Maybe you locals will give me a briefing. Hope to see you there

[SCUBA Luv in town can do Nitrox fills although you have to schlep the tank back into town. Don't know what their turnaround time is.]

Hi everyone! I haven't posted here in a long time, but will be joining your trip on Saturday with my pal scubaxris. Thinking I'll run into a few folks I know (ChrisM, you still planning to go?).

Re Scuba Luv nitrox: Their mixer isn't on duty full-time, so it's not likely they will be able to fill your tank on demand. What I do is call ahead and reserve a pre-fill rental for my second tank, it's expensive but since I don't dive air anymore (long story...) it's better than not doing a repetitive dive. Prefill rental tank with EAN32 is $12, EAN36 is $18. Best to call ahead and reserve a tank so they blend it the night before: 310-510-2350.

If you do manage to get a nitrox fill from them, they will require an O2 clean sticker and EAN bumper sticker on your tank.
