It's an arrowhead crab of some kind. Where did you find it? In order to find the name of this specific critter, we need to know the body of water. FWIW, I have heard people refer to these as "spider crabs."

At the risk of being a bit redundant, here's my sticky for this forum:
When posting a "Name that Critter" query, if you will include the following information (or as much of it as you can) it'll help a great deal in figuring out what we have...
(1) How big is the critter?
(2) Where in the world is the critter?
(3) What sort of habitat (reef, wreck, sand, rubble etc) is the critter in?
(4) How deep is the critter?
(5) What time of day (or night) did you see the critter?
(6) Any observed behavior of the critter...
(7) If the locals have a common name for the critter, what is it?
Thanks,
Rick

1) Approx. 2 - 3" tall

(6) Sitting still at the opening of a small hole
(7) Don't know a local name for it.

Thanks guys! Arrowhead photos are definitely a match. Tried going through all kinds of creatures lists but no luck. Knew I'd seen one somewhere before, maybe an aquarium or on tv.
Going to try and find it again today and take some photos. Will upload if I do.

Here in the Caribbean we have the Yellowline Arrow Crab and see them quite often. This one looks as one of those.
