Rum, toilet paper and fire, oh my! Were not in Kansas any more Moonie.... :shocked2:

I couldn't resist. All we're missing are the blue suade fins.
:rofl3: :rofl3: :rofl3:

Later,
Moonie :mooner:

Hellooooo Did Moonie scare everyone away?

Just a little over a month before Megadive. We're missing some peeps. Give them a poke if you can. And for those who haven't commited to what your bringing, post and let me know when you get a chance.

Ummmm, maybe the gas pump scared them away. :idk: At $4.00/gal it will cost me about $300 in gas for the trip. For now we're still planning on attending, but the gas price is cutting into the rum funds.

Maybe some folks could car pool if gas$ is the problem?

Maybe people are just waiting til the last minute to sign up to go? Since I am only a recent former-n00b, I don't know how many people normally have come to the Megadives prior to Oct 2011. Were the groups smaller? Are Spring dives less popular?

I am looking forward to a weekend in the woods, diving, relaxing, and laughing :)... although it would be great if gas prices dropped by then (fat chance).

I think some people are like me...wouldn't miss a Megadive on purpose yet I always lose track of time and don't talk much in the thread...

Yeah! We would love to see you again! :D
The water is spring water 72 - 74 all year round. A 3 to 5 mil wetsuit is what most of us wear. Are you going to be camping or staying at the hotel? And are you planning on checking out any other parts of FL while your down this way?

I'm not sure about camping, I like to sleep in a bed. But I do have an air matress so... It could be fun... As far as checking out other stuff while I'm down there I dont know that I'll have the time its a long drive back to INDIANA and I have to be back at work the next week. But this looks like to much fun to pass up.

Wow, that's a long way just for the weekend. Is Katina or Patrick coming with you? The best way to experience Megadive is to camp so you don't miss the fun at the campfire. They also have cabins available, but you would need to check with Ginnie Springs as far as cost an availability.

Roxanne, put us down for Breakfast eggs (1/2 doz flats or so).
Also baked beans and something to add to Sat's dinner.
I'll find out what side Shelli wants to make, and perhaps a dessert item.

I think
availability is definitely more of a deal breaker on cabins there.
During certain weekends those things are booked for years in advance.
Not to worry though as there are plenty of places to stay at around there.

For those who always ask what to bring. Here are some ideas...
Meat items for the grill (let's keep it to Hamburgers, hotdogs, brats, and chicken breast and buns) (We're trying to keep it simple so it doesn't take forever to cook for the group) (If you have something else you were thinking about and want to cook that yourself, that's great! Some have brought friers or smokers and added to the meat items that way.)
Eggs (We never seem to have enough.)
Items for the omlettes (additional meats, peppers, mushrooms, onions, salsa, wraps, cheese, etc.)
Items for Breakfast (small bag of coffee, creamer, insulated cups for hot beverages, hot chocolate, Juices, fruit, etc.)
Charcoal (self starting)
Condiments (cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, onions, pickles, ketchup, mustard, mayo, relish, BBQ sauce etc.)
Aluminum Foil Serving Pans (to hold the cooked meat)
Paper towels
Qt. Freezer baggies
for the omelettes(Make sure they are the freezer kind or they will melt)
Bottled water
Side dishes (casseroles, baked beans, potato salad, macaroni salad, cole slaw, chips and dips/salsa, fruit salad, green salads w/dressing, veggie tray w/dip, etc.)
Deserts (Oh please don’t forget the deserts!)
Tiki torches and fuel (for around the fire)
Fire wood for the camp fire.

If someone needs ICE on the way in, there is a self-serve ICE machine when you leave High Springs to turn on the road to go to Ginnie.
In addition to Ginnie's Springs store and dive shop,
Air Fills: Cave East - just down the road from Ginnie, US 27 and US 41
A new dive shop opened in High Springs where Salvo used to be. (US Hwy 441)
Cave Country Diving - Home
There is a Winn-Dixie in High Springs , open 7 AM to 10 PM every day.
There is also a CVS Pharmacy right next to the Hardees.

Here's a link back to the weekend rundown for additional info.
