I am wanting to get my CMAS*. I have a SSI OW cert currently. I was told I can take the CMAS test and pay a fee and I will get the CMAS* cert. Do I only need this cert for diving in France? I dont do any diving there "yet" but mostly the red sea and spain.

Since you are already certified you would need to be evaluated and take any additional training needed to meet the CMAS One Star Diver requirements. Judging from the SSI shop around the corner from me you would probably require both additional academic and waterwork to achieve the CMAS One Star qualification. Check out our website Welcome to CMAS AMERICAS OFFICIAL WEBPAGE then contact me at cmasamericas@gmail.com for further details.
