How long after a hurricane passes are the waters diveable?? I am visiting So. Florida next Thursday (9/16) and have booked two dives out of Key Largo on Thursday and Friday. If there are rough seas and low visibility, do the boats stay in or do they go anyway and whoever shows up gets a lousy dive and those that don't show pay anyway?? I don't want to cancel, fearing that if the weather is OK, I won't get back on the boat, but also don't want a lousy dive. How do they decide if conditions are OK? Thanks for any input and everybody be safe this weekend!!

In the past the Boat Capt. Will make the call. If there are still real strong currents, or the waves don't settle down he will cancel it. Supposedly, the next one isnt suposed to be here till the folowing tuesday.(the weather people have no idea)..anyways.

Well, for perspective.. Frances came through over the weekend. Today was the first day I have not seen white caps on the waves out at the beach.

Ivan is currently scheduled to pass the area Monday. 3 days later, there will be some swell, bounce, and viz problems. It'll make you a better diver.

Ft.Lauderdale could be a better choice next week, though.

Uh Oh! I'm not getting that warm fuzzy feeling! She'n now here in PA and still dumping rain. We had almost 4 inches so far, but the end is in sight!

No, I think your rain is from Frances, breaking up over a wide area. For more on Ivan, click: http://www.crownweather.com/tropical.html
