In my travels to Mexico I have noticed that most dive shops use crates to place gear for each diver. I have been looking for them here in the states but haven't had any luck. I have been using storage binds will lids but would rather have a crate cause the binds hold water. I know I can drill holes in the bottom of the binds but the crates seem to stack alot better w/o lids.

Here you go. Do a Google search on "milk crate" if you want more choices.

Check out the bottom of the page here:

McMaster-Carr

They work great, are very strong, and you can pick size, if you want the bottoms to be solid or vented, and if you want a lid. They are stackable, even with the lids on.
I went with the part 4315T15 and have been very happy with them.

I just found the URL for the ones I bought here. They seem pretty strong, and have a metal band around the top. When I was in Playa del Carmen in the spring, we had some that were longer, long enough that I could lay my Slipstreams flat on the bottom, and put my wet suit on top of them. I haven't been able to find any like that here.

I prefer the bins myself.
It makes it neater when transporting my (wet) gear back home after a dive and it doubles as a rinse tank when I get home.
I can fit my daughters, wifes and my gear in a single storage bin.

EVERYBODY wants the Mexico crates. They're vegetable crates, used by wholesalers in Playa del Carmen. A friend of mine knows where to stop and buy them, but they're not really for sale as I understand it, and you have to know Spanish. I know of no one who has been able to find these precise crates in the US or on the internet. They're mystery crates.
