I'm a Fish!
Hi All...
Suggestions wanted: I'm planning to put together a trip (abt. 5 days) out of our dive shop in Washington DC around next Columbus day. The idea will be to offer a relatively quick and cheap trip to someplace interesting to take advantage of the long weekend.

I had been thinking about Cozumel, but have been there twice very recently. I love Utila and go regularly, but it's a bit of a long trip for just a 5 day time.

Suggestions? Our criteria are a) cheap overall trip (i.e. plane tickets + diving + accomodations) b) get there relatively quickly so folks can do a 4-5 day trip and be satisfied and c) a little off the beaten path is kindof cool... i.e. don't love bahamas...

IDEAS??? Gracias!

check out the trip report for Coral Caverns on Andros. It meets all your criteria if you don't count the part about not loving the bahamas.

How about Puerto Rico or Jamaica? The Keys are always good. Or how about wreck diving in Bermuda?

Key West or several different Florida Keys locations is my suggestion.
Warm water, tropical breezes, off season prices. Lots to do for nondivers
as well.

Actually Bonaire is a possibility out of IAD...(My son works for UA, so we fly back and forth often)

IAD to Aruba, then to Bonaire on Tiara, in Bonaire @7pm. Dive for the next 3 days then back the way you came (leave Bon around noon.) Flights have been reasonably priced lately....

and the diving is way cheaper. you can do only shore dives if you want.
