Looking for 501(c) tax exempt charitable organizations who need scuba gear. Local to California would be best, but let me know if you work with or have heard of deserving groups elsewhere.

I'm looking at a large lot of gear including a whole rental fleet. All older, most serviceable. Thanks!

In 1988 SMART Divers was organized to assist public service agencies and organizations with underwater search, recovery, and crime scene investigations. SMART became a non-profit 501 (c)(3) organization in 1997 and was incorporated into the South Hays Fire Department in June 2004. SMART combines the unique skills of police officers, fire-rescue, and EMS trained personnel with the field of search and recovery diving to form a specialty team of investigators above and below the water. SMART specializes in evidence recovery and documentation of the underwater scene with advanced video technology. This is a highly trained dive team that includes dive instructors, dive masters, underwater archeologist, specialty-advanced divers, haz-mat specialist, swift water rescue, deep technical, topside technicians, K9 handlers, and cave divers.

SMART is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization that relies on tax deductible donations and sponsorships.

The Diveheart Foundation was founded in Early 2001 and is a non-profit tax exempt 501 (C) (3) national organization chartered in the state of Illinois. The purpose of Diveheart is to provide and support educational SCUBA diving and snorkeling experience programs that are open to any child, adult, or veteran with a disability with the hope of providing both physical and psychological therapeutic value to that person.

It is the "CAN DO" spirit that Diveheart hopes to instill in all its participants by giving them the confidence and independence that allows them to face their own life challenges and overcome barriers that before might have seemed insurmountable.
Through SCUBA diving, the Diveheart Foundation supports and facilitates programs that teach children and adults with disabilities to fly. Thanks to the wonder of the water column, the oceans and lakes of the world become the forgiving weightless environment of outer space, giving perfect buoyancy to a child or adult who would otherwise struggle on land.

Diveheart has grown to become an international organization with help from friends, participants, and buddies from China, Singapore, England, etc. We also work with groups all over the country, including California. Below are some videos and links showcasing Diveheart.

The first video is Alex and Julie Calvo. Alex, who is an Army veteran, and Julie are husband and wife from Long Beach, CA. They met after Alex's injury left him as an incomplete quadriplegic. They fell in love during their SCUBA class and ended up getting married. This is their very first Open Water dive together with Diveheart in Cozumel Mexico.
