I would refer you to post #12.

The idea that there's something wrong with it, because some stupid person may do something stupid, never found that to be a good argument. That's a fault of being stupid alone.

Totally agree, but in the real world you know what happens? People complain to the government about people doing something stupid, and then we end up with laws and regulation.

The issues surrounding Eagle's Nest is a perfect example.

Frankly, I don't get the point anyway. If you want to use scuba to dive deeper and longer, well, just useeee... Wait for ittt...

SCUBA. There's nothing pure about this form of freediving.

There's no gatekeepers for ordinary freediving either. In the real world, that does not mean there is something wrong with it, just because stupid people go out and hyperventilate, with no buddy, blackout and die. Do it wrong and you get hurt, that true for hundreds of things. That doesn't mean those things are bad.

There's nothing clarified here. Kick to 50ft. and then start breathing nitrox. Well, for how long? One breath? A few minutes? What computer is going to keep track of nitrogen loading for this type of diving? Do 50 of those dives over the course of a few hours and you may get bent.

At 50 feet, you'll have to be looking at schedules that may get you bent breathing air at 1 atm too. Especially when breathing nitrox.
