I agree Jenny. There's something about your fish that makes it not look like a lantern bass. Did you get a good shot of its tail? Lantern basses have smooth, curved tails (lunate?), and in your picture it looks like the tail is jagged. Also, the head and back look different. And lastly - it's missing the yellow "lantern" spots.

I'll bet the Name That Critter folks can ID it.

Agreed. I think there are two different bass being discussed. I wuz talking about the "non-puddingwife" bass.

Wow. A Google image search for "Polychaete worm" was most edifying - and yuckifying. :D

Also explains a lot of what I saw on a night dive a few years ago. . . IMG_9043bacs | Flickr - Photo Sharing!

Hi gang,

Haven't dove BHB in a while, and starting to Jones a bit.

Does anyone have a link to the tide tables we're using? The one I was using doesn't work.

thanks!

its defiinitely not a lantern bass. i'd guess juvenile bank sea bass?

LOL, that's what I said when I first posted!

YouTube - Seahorses at Blue Heron Bridge March 8, 2011.mp4

A few weeks ago when KP, KW and I discovered the baby daddy and momma seahorse pair. Me desperately trying to back peddle (and not bump into anything) as she swam straight at me. My third underwater attempt with the new Flip camera.
