Thanks for the heads up guys... as my screenname implies... I'm nuts for corals not colorful back allies of belize city. I'll be sure to stay far away from those. whats the pleasure in that anyway?

Since this is SCUBA Board, it should be well noted that these concerns evaporate once you have transited through Belize City on your way to an island paradise in the outlying Belizian Cays.

I have always thought that this and similar discussions are more properly found on a Central American Trekker message board. Scuba Divers won't see much of Belize City unless they really went out of their way to make that occur.

I see no harm in discussions of this type in this forum as not ALL divers are the "just take me to the beach," types, and not all travelling divers travel in the same manner. In fact, I tend to ask questions here of a destination as I have often found my fellow diver to be a more well rounded traveler than the typical "plant my ass in an AI, never leave the resort and say I was there" type. Especially when the destination in question has a lot more than dividing to interest the well rounded traveler.

In addition, when one is involved in an "on-line" community, one tends to ask within that community for advice, rather than jumping on an unfamiliar board with unknown contributors.

Besides, one can only stand to hear so much about this dive site or that dive operator before the whole thing becomes repetitive, and boring. Adding the occasional foray into what may be called a "Non-diving" topic adds interest and insight to a particular location.
