We always do a good gear clean and check after diving so packing gear into the car is simple. Usually do it the night before 20 minutes to 30 max. In the morning throw two jugs of hot water in the insulated bag for a warm rinse after the dive.

We have a good system so from driving into the yard to gear cleaned, checked and hanging to dry is a 30 minute job. After drying another check before being put away. Normally it doesn't make much difference if it is one or two sets of gear time wise. If we have four sets of gear only adds 10 minutes or so.

Course when we change from winter to summer gear the closing season stuff gets and extra long soak and check before being put away. The new season stuff gets a good check in case of damage from pests or damage during storage.

It can take me anywhere from 30 minutes to half a day. Depends on what I am doing. I use different lists for different dives. Putzing around in the local lake by myself with a single tank 30 minutes. Getting ready for a multi-day trip with students I have to consider the class I am teaching. I don't take the same gear for OW checkouts as I would for teaching an advanced nitrox/deco/adv wreck class.

I take the same stuff for all my boat dives in South Florida, don't always use everything. I use a backpack mesh boat bag and pack everything in the same place for every dive, keeps me from forgetting anything and makes packing quick.

Mostly we do shore dives.. we pack it in the tubs in the order we will use it setting up at the site. Keeps from forgetting things. Pack it then run through the gearing up process in your head to make sure you got it all.. done!
