Make sure they are fresh. Otherwise those rocks of boiled and baked dough will get you moved to a seat adjacent to the lavatory.

And probably count as a weapon, too.

To me, American style tipping distorts remuneration. On my last LOB in Sorocco, I was chatting with another guest who is in the NYC restaurant trade. His take was that it was perfectly acceptable for a NYC waiter in an upscale restaurant to earn $100K a year. To me, waiters should not be earning $100K and tipping is best done away with.

There's maybe one waiter in all of NYC pulling down bank like that. Most waiters work two jobs just to make ends meet. If you don't like tipping lobby for people to make a liveable wage. And while you're at it, maybe you can explain why companies like Walmart and Macdonalds can pay their employees so little they have to be on public assistance.

Oops, that was a rant. Move on. Nothing to see here.

There are lots of people from Wall Street who don’t blink when ordering bottles of wine upwards of 4 figures in restaurants. I don’t think $100K is beyond reach in restaurants with top notch wine lists.

Employers should pay their employees a proper wage. It completely eludes me why American restaurants don’t pay their waiters a proper wage. I, for one, am against the export of this American malaise to the rest of the world.

There are a lot of people that don't want the responsibility or pressure that comes with a higher paying job.

The market has spoken. Everybody got a right to get that cheddar. Watch out for the ghosts next week @CWK

The Socialism is strong in this thread.
This board has industry professionals who may have an interest in industry remuneration. For example, in the Galapagos tipping thread, there was someone who was actually working on a Galapagos LOB who was advising 10% tips on 5k-6k one week trips.

That would be Capitalism, not Socialism.

Quite possibly. If you look at the Galapagos thread closely you may be able to discern misrepresentation. As a layman, to me misrepresentation for personal financial gain may constitute fraud. But a lawyer would be better placed to make that assessment.
