So here is the problem. There is a group of us (6) that go on a trip every year. Not all of the SOs dive, so it needs to be a place that has a variety of things to do. Now we are looking for the next location in 2011 & T&C came up.

What else is there to do but lay on the beach, shop and dive? I haven't seen anything to indicate that there are other activites or site seeing.

Grand Cayman was great--lots to do and see
Bermuda has lots of historic buildings/architecture & museums
Maui has---everything
Kona has volcanos & rainforests and history

So is there enough things to do on Turks and/or Caicos to keeps some non-divers amused?

My wife and I went to Providenciales in 2008 and had a great time.
She was not a diver at the time, but mostly Provo is a island all about
the water - scuba, snorkeling, sailing, swimming, etc.
We took a boat through "Caicos Dream Adventures" out to Water Cay,
Pine Cay, Ft. George & Little Water Cay, for snorkeling and swimming.
We had a cook-out on the beach, and saw small sharks just off the
shore.
We stayed at "Royal West Indies" and the casino is just down the road.
Food, drink, sea, sun and shopping as about it!
But the people are great and we are beach people - so take that for
what it's worth...
Hope you find a place for everyone.

Thank you very much. I will do a closer look.

Best regards.

You are right there's not a hell of a lot to do except water sports activities and shopping. Been there many times.

If your choices are the list you provided GO TO MAUI!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The SO's will thank you.

I'd talk them into the BVI myself. Get a place on Tortola or Virgin Gorda and explore the islands as there are loads of neat, quirky places to discover. Lots of good boat dives close at hand. You can jump on the ferry to check out the other islands. Much more interesting than the Turks & Caicos, IMHO.

Turks is absolutely beautiful. I was there 2 years ago for a dive vacation and to visit some friends that lived there at the time. The water is perfect and the sand is like walking through flour (so soft and white). There really is not much to do if you're not a diver though, the island of Provo is very small and you can drive from one end to the other in about an hour. As for BVI, I will be going to Tortola for a Divemaster internship March 1 so if you are interested in hearing more about it, please send me a message and I will keep you posted.

Good luck on your decision :)

West coast! Go to Fiji! You will never regret it! The Dollar goes way further and all of you will be amazed at the diving and the culture! Lots to see!

Thank you all for the responses.
Rescue: Maui is great but I've been there a few times looking for something new that has Maui style.
Btravlin: BVI will be high on the list
jenlebl: PM sent, good luck on your DM class. Start reviewing Diving Knowledge Workbook :D
Papa Bear: Good idea...I will take a very serious look at that. Did you self book or did you use a travel agent?

Thank you all once more.

Turks & Caicos can be fun for a non diver as well. I was just down there a couple months ago with a non diving friend who had a blast. They have horseback riding, sailing, tennis, golf, nice shopping, very nice spas, fine dining, cruises and every water sport you can imagine. Granted if Fiji is an option I'd def go there first.
