Today I visited the Underwater and Aviation Medicine Division, Arpakorn Kiatiwong Hospital and had a very good discussion. Here is their website, in case you have not seen it:

Underwater and Hyperbaric Medicine Specialist

Underwater and Aviation Medicine Division located close to popular diving spot. Our staffs, specialized in diving medicine, are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week for emergency recompression for diving accident.

In case of diving emergency contact 038-438-686, 08-5191-7219

DAN does not pay directly for their services, due to some bureaucratic issues. Divers with DAN coverage must pay first, and the team at the hospital will help with all forms necessary for the diver insured by DAN to get reimbursed.

Sure wish we could break down the bureaucracy in Thailand and get one or more direct DAN hot lines in Thailand. After talking with a number of players on both sides, it does not seem anyone is optimistic of this ever happening here.
