This is a low-paying ($200) gig for a scuba certified underwater diver - preferably with their own video camera/housing in or around the upstate NY area (Buffalo, Syracuse, Ithaca).
We are shooting a 10 min short film which ends with our actor falling into water and descending. It's only one shot so the whole shoot shouldnt take more than 2 hours. We don't have the budget to afford working professional underwater cinematographers which is why I am putting out an open-call for anyone with underwater knowledge. Although our budget is low, we do however, have professional land lights (no underwater lights for you Titanic fans) which can be positioned around the pool to produce a beautiful video image. The rest of the film is being shot on 16mm Kodak Motion Picture Negative. If you have an underwater housing for a bolex or Aaton LTR film camera, great cos that's what we're shooting with. We can also get you Panasonic AG-80P, or a canon GL1 to do this shot with, should you not have a camera. We don't, however have an underwater housing but are looking into it.
We have a pool in Ithaca, NY secured ($100,000 insurance + medical expert on hand) should you be willing to bring you camera/scuba gear out. We are also willing to come to you, provided you help us secure a pool nearby where we can shoot this shot. You will of course be given a credit as "underwater cinematographer" and paid the agreed amount.
